Ethical Standards

This document outlines the ethical standards that govern the publication process for the Journal of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence (JMAI). These guidelines are based on the Core practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring fairness, integrity, and transparency in all aspects of publishing.

Publication Process

  • Editor’s Evaluation: The editor assesses the manuscript to determine its relevance, content, and suitability for peer review.
  • Double-Blind Review Policy: Manuscripts are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process, where neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identity. To ensure a fair review process, the Journal of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence asks authors to submit two PDF manuscripts. The first manuscript should include author details (names, affiliations, and E-mail). The second file should only contain the manuscript, without any author information. This helps us maintain a double-blind review, where reviewers focus only on the quality of the work. Authors must follow this rule to avoid delays in the review process.
  • Editor’s Decision: Following peer review, the editor will decide whether to accept, revise, or reject the manuscript based on the quality of the feedback.
  • Revisions and Resubmission: Authors must make the necessary revisions based on reviewer and editor feedback.
  • Final Decision: After all revisions, the editor will make a final decision on the manuscript’s acceptance for publication.

Editor’s Duties

  • The editor is responsible for ensuring the ethical and intellectual quality of the published work. Decisions must be made in line with the journal’s standards, and the editor must comply with legal requirements related to copyright, defamation, and plagiarism.
  • Editors are committed to maintaining confidentiality and resolving conflicts of interest throughout the publishing process.

Author’s Obligations

  • Originality and Plagiarism: A total similarity index of less than 25% is required for all submitted manuscripts, and less than 5% similarity is allowed from each individual source.
  • Simultaneous Submission: Authors are prohibited from submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time.
  • Acknowledging Sources: Authors must appropriately cite all sources used in their research, including financial support for the study.
  • Correcting Errors: Authors are required to notify the editor of any significant errors discovered in their work and assist in correcting them.

Reviewer’s Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential and not use the content for personal gain.
  • Fairness in Review: The double-blind review process ensures impartial evaluation based solely on the quality of the research.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should recuse themselves from reviewing any manuscripts where they have a personal or professional conflict of interest.

These ethical standards are designed to ensure the quality, transparency, and integrity of the Journal of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence and should be followed by all participants involved in the publishing process.
